Adar Gandelsman was an Israeli model. She was Miss Israel's 2017 runner-up and received the title Miss Universe Israel. Adar did not place in the Miss Universe 2017 pageant held in Las Vegas. Gandelsman and Miss Universe Iraq Sarah Idan took a selfie together during the pageant. Idan as well as her family emigrated from Iraq in December 2017 after she took a photo with Miss Israel. Miss Israel was also in the Israel Defense Forces at that time. Gandelsman, who is Ashkenazi Jewish and immigrated from Brazil in 1992, took the picture.
